What is the Classification Assessment process?
There are two parts to the process:
A client questionnaire which is completed by the hirer
A freelancer questionnaire which is completed by the freelancer
The client and freelancer questionnaires start at the same time. Once both questionnaires have been completed the booking will be reviewed and assigned a classification (typically within 24 hours of receiving both the hirer and freelancer questionnaires).

Why do I need to complete a Classification Assessment?
The Classification Assessment determines the appropriate classification status for a booking through YunoJuno, ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and mitigating the risk of misclassification and potential legal consequences and fines. The Classification Assessment protects freelancers by ensuring they are engaged in a compliant manner.
What does the Classification Assessment involve?
The freelancer Classification Assessment consists of 4 sections:
Past engagement
This section covers any previous or existing employment or work relationships. For example, whether you are currently working for the client as an employee or Independent Contractor.
Business operations
This section covers details on your level of business investment. For example, whether you have your own office facilities or website and how you advertise your services.
Personal services
This section covers details on how you offer your services, for example, how many clients you have and what percentage of your annual earnings will be provided by the booking.
Your business risks
The section covers your level of risk in relation to payments, the services delivered, and liability. For example, whether you run an entrepreneurial risk if you do not deliver the services.
How long does the Classification Assessment take to complete?
The assessment consists of eleven questions and typically takes around 5 minutes to complete.
What happens when I have completed the Classification Assessment?
Once both questionnaires have been completed the booking will be reviewed and assigned a classification (typically within 24 hours of receiving both the hirer and freelancer questionnaires).

What are the possible outcomes?
If the booking receives an Independent Contractor classification then the hirer can offer the booking to you and you can accept the booking as usual. If you have previously been booked through YunoJuno then there is no change.
If the booking does not receive an Independent Contractor classification, then the hirer may not be able to proceed with the booking, or they may be able to engage with you as an employee through our Employer of Record (EOR) service.
